Subject: Shared Memory error after 8.0.1 client crash
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes 8 Client
Technical Area: Crash
Platform: Windows Vista client
Release: 8.0.1
Reproducible: Always

I've had the 8.0.1 Notes client running on Vista since the download was available and so far it's been running reasonably well but I had a crash when opening an html newsletter type email and haven't been able to get the client to start after removing the hung processes. In the past, ending any running Notes processes would be sufficient to get the client up and running again (even with 8.0), but that no longer seems to be the case as even with the processes cleaned up the client still refuses to load and generates the following error:

Shared Memory from a previous Notes/Domino run has been detected, this process will exit now.

Obviously the answer is to reboot, but as an Admin frequently changing Locations between client sites and servers I get Notes crashes/freezes reasonably often when doing this in Notes 8.x on Vista so having to reboot each time is going to be a pain.

. . . . . . Thanks guys (~Julia Opkrobur... 28.Feb.08)
. . . . . . nsd -kill did not work for Notes 9 (~Dexter Quettoo... 17.Mar.16)
